Last Live Shows Of 2011 Twin Atlantic Wrexham Central Station, 6 December 2011 I’ve seen the band before but have to admit I couldn’t remember what they were like, although they are enjoying a high level of hype at the moment. So I hot-footed it down to my local venue to catch the youngsters at play and perhaps remember… For a band that’s been on magazine front covers I expected better-than-average lighting and sound. The almost sell-out audience was greeted by a continual barrage of blinding lighting which played on the audience rather than the band who stayed in almost total darkness. It was so bad that for the first time ever I complained to the venue’s staff who advised that the band had brought along their own lighting… To add to woes the performance appeared lack-lustre despite the excellent audience response. The band played songs from both album releases with emphasis placed on the latest 2011 offering, Free. Leadman Sam McTrusty alone seemed committed to the task in hand and is a charismatic and communicative character. But for me, even the songs lacked bite with a couple of exceptions. A disappointing spectacle from a band who really has to get its show lighting and sound right. SETLIST Serious Underground Dance Vibes, Make A Beast Of Myself, The Ghost Of Eddie, Eight Days, What Is Light? Where Is Laughter?, Wonder Sleeps Here, Apocalypse Renegade, Edit Me, Better Weather, Caribbean War Syndrome, Lightspeed, Human After All, Crashland, You’re Turning Into John Wayne, Yes I Was Drunk, Time For You To Stand Up, Free. |
