She responds to encore calls with another solo this time a moving tribute to Leonard Chen with ‘Chelsea Hotel’. The band then joins her onstage but not as instrumentalists but as backing singers on the other mic to sing an extraordinary and utterly beautiful version of ‘Proserpina’ from the album COME HOME TO MAMA. This completes a show that is in danger of becoming my outstanding performance of 2017. The setlist was faultless combining as it did many of her new songs and the best of four albums. I felt the back-lighting was way too brash as it virtually obliterated sight of the performers but it was a small glitch in a performance that I shall never forget.
