STREAM HERE: https://emilybarkermusic.ffm.to/fragileashumans Bridgetown-born Americana artist Emily Barker is set to kickstart the new year with a tour of the UK. Accompanied by her full band and with support from Liz Stringer, the folk songwriter will play a series of headline shows across the country in late January and early February. The headline UK tour follows the success of Barker’s sixth studio record, FRAGILE AS HUMANS, which arrived in May 2025, as well as a series of support dates with Scottish songwriter King Creosote late last year. Barker will take to stages at a number of beloved UK venues, including the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds, the Deaf Institute in Manchester, and Omeara in London. Emily Barker is an award-winning singer-songwriter from Western Australia. Her song ‘Nostalgia’ was the theme for the acclaimed BBC crime drama Wallander starring Kenneth Branagh. Her songwriting has been acclaimed by The Guardian (”Emily Barker has a gift for great melodies”), NPR (”one the most literate and probing folk albums of the year”) and The Australian (”irresistibly catchy”). She has toured extensively, including with Frank Turner and Mary Chapin Carpenter, and was the 2018 UK Americana Artist of the Year. Barker’s first collection of poetry “Where The Black Swans Swim” was published this year through UK publisher Broken Sleep Books. On her new album, FRAGILE AS HUMANS - written and recorded as her time living in the UK was coming to a close - Emily Barker turns her lyrical gaze inwards. The expansive themes of her previous album A DARK MURMURATION OF WORDS are replaced by an empathetic concern for matters more personal, familial, closer to home. The ten songs take us on a deep dive into the human condition, an unflinching self-examination of grief, pain, loneliness and loss, at the same time sparkling with hope and optimism. Luke Potashnick’s intricate production puts Emily’s expressive voice at the very forefront, exposing its full emotional range - vulnerable, yet assured - backed by a cinematic sonic palette provided by Richard Causon on keys, Tim Harries on bass and Tom Visser on drums, with Luke himself contributing additional guitars, effects and studio wizardry. As Emily writes in the album’s pivotal title track, we live lives of complexity, grappling with loneliness and disconnection, searching for compassion, connection and community - we are all “fragile as humans and made of who we love.” Following a series of support slots with King Creosote late last year, Barker returns to the UK for a headline tour with her full band.
