Curry & Coco Sex Is Fashion!

CURRY & COCO: SEX IS FASHION / FIRST EP TAKEN FROM THE DEBUT ALBUM “WE ARE BEAUTY”

Remember that time in the late ’70s when punks traded in their guitars for synths, and re-configured disco as a bastard brother of garage rock? Now, to recreate the raw excitement and sonic abandon of post-punk’s wildest hour are Thomas Priem and Sylvain Przybylski, the duo known as Curry & Coco.

C&C began playing together in 2006 in their hometown Lille in Northern France. After three years, 150 concerts and 30,000 kilometres preaching the good word across Europe, CURRY & COCO landed in London to record their debut album with British producer David Kosten (Bat For Lashes, Chew Lips, Everything Everything) “WE ARE BEAUTY“, which will be released in the UK later this year.

As a first taster off the album, Curry & Coco will be releasing “SEX IS FASHION EP” as a digital download an 10″ vinyl on 10th May 2010, featuring tracks “WHO’S NEXT?” and “SEX IS FASHION” with remixes by British artist The Emperor Machine and French beatmaker/producer Fulgeance.

Curry & Coco will be returning to the UK for a string of dates in May: *BUT B4 THAT WE GAVE THEM THE ‘SHAKE SEVEN’

Sunglasses at night, or Daytime only?
Sylvain : I recently woke up with my sunglasses on. Forgot they were there all night long.
Thomas : One more time?!

Solo act or band? or Both?
T : We are a band of two, and share absolutely everything 50/50.
S : The concept of solo act isn’t really compatible with the way we write songs, with the way we perform…
T : We are some kind of bicephal entity. Siamese, except for love privacy.
S : Really? Last night, just the two of us…

Are U physical or digital?
S : We use mp3 everyday, like a lot of people…
T : But we are definitely in love with vinyls, which we collect. Totally different use.

How important are the girls?
T : Women are extremely important to us. They can turn a strange and smelly night club into a very pleasant place to play. Getting to know a woman is one of the most wonderful things in the world.

Influence or Providence? Explain Inspiration…
S : We love Giorgio Moroder and 70’s Disco as much as we enjoy Blondie, AC/DC, Joy Division or LCD Soundsystem…
T : … Providence is what happens when we get together and play. In this moments, all the musics we like mix and reappear through our hands. When we were recording “We Are Beauty”, we realized we had been influenced by the almost opposite energies of New Wave and Disco more than we thought, and when we play our music, both emerge in some kind of weird but interresting equilibrium…

Where can we see you live in 2010?
S : We start a UK tour in May, we’ll play the Great Escape in Brighton, London, Liverpool, Glasgow… Just check our myspace page.
T : Really looking forward this tour. Really looking forward Burger Kings which don’t exist in France anymore.
S : Burger Kings….

Seven & Seven is?
T : Too young to visit our hotel rooms…
S : … except if your are a dog, in which case you would be 98 and maybe a bit old to stay there. A bit too messy.

Tour Dates:

May 14th: London, French Revolution at The Macbeth
May 15th: Brighton, The Great Escape
May 17th: Glasgow, O2 ABC2
May 18th: Dundee, Dukes Corner
May 19th: Blackburn, 41
May 20th York, The Duchess
May 21st: Liverpool, Sound City Festival

In an increasingly atomic duet, CURRY AND COCO offer a utopian mix of suave disco and new-wave movements, evoking a meeting on a Burger King parking lot - between Kraftwerk and the Jackson 5. Tom is a great drummer, he is bionic, on his own, he is capable of transforming a few thousand Parisians into soft balls, boosted through melodies full of empathy and ecstasy by Sylvain, the blond singer possessed by black men - or even by women, from Donna Summer to Madonna.
