RNCM Pop Course Launch LIZARD’S WEAVE Are a five-piece band who bring dirty fusion to the masses, taking influences from a range of artists including Snarky Puppy, Gretchen Parlato and Hiatus Kaitote. Set List: Holla Band Personnel: Ali Roocroft - Keys THE JAMES VEZER BAND Are a mixture of R’n'B, Rock ‘n’ Roll with bit of orchestral gloss to polish it off. Usually a five-piece, they work closely with other musicians, creating orchestral arrangements to accompany their soul/rock style, making an interesting blend. Set List: Black Wing Band Personnel: Rhys Jiang - Drums Editor’s Note I attended the launch night entertainment and was more than impressed. The quality of the young student musicians was extremely high and their performances worthy of any music venue and company. The range of music on show was extensive and included jazz, rock, soul and R&B - all authentic, true and hugely entertaining. With such quality on show from five great acts it’s perhaps unfair to pick a favourite but one which truly rowed my particular generic boat was the jazz fusion of Lizard’s Weave. The fine performances from sax man Jimmy Studdard and John Needham on drums was typical of the striking talent on show. The interest shown by the music industry in this unique UK course and the standard of students bode well for our musical future.
