Matchbox 20 MORE THAN YOU THINK YOU ARE. Atlantic.

It doesn’t take long to get the drift and quality of this piece of plastic. About 2 seconds in fact; enough for the huge, crystal clear guitar riff to bury itself into your soul.

Opener Feel is a guitar riff spectacular matched by drums and vocals to create the reason why this album has taken flight in the USA. Disease adds melody and a Nickleback feel to a song that positively reeks emotion and passion. Spectacular! But it gets better… Brights Lights opens with thoughtful piano notes and a vocal that will melt the hardest of hearts as it soars and dives so expressively. Drums and guitar then join in to nail this mutha. Got to be one of the rock songs of this year - any year? Just listen to the middle-eight riff and be amazed. Beautiful!

You want me to go on? Waste of time really ‘cos you know what’s coming. Unwell, slow, moving and fabulous with a melody that shouts pop, but this is feckin’ rock - shouldn’t be allowed. Cracker! You want more? OkayCold: dark, dismal, threatening rock with more fabulous instrumentals, and a vocal performance to-die-for. All I Need is a rock ballad that rolls nicely along - not the best here but I’d like to see Coldplay. match it.

Hand Me Down: slow, mesmirising. I could go on, and on. But I’ve already said too much. Not only is this some of the best rock you’ll hear all year but production is supreme with every lyric, every note as clear as the finest, polished glass. This album has already sold millions in the USA and it should demolish anything on release over here in the UK. One message: Buy This Record and believe that rock ‘n’roll is here and healthier than ever before.

A wonderful, wonderful record.
