Lamb Of God: Wrath (Roadrunner)

lamb_of_god_-_wrath_artwork

Lamb of God: Wrath: Roadrunner RecordsThe Virginia metalcore kings are back with the follow up to the Grammy nominated ‘Sacrament’ (2006). With over 3 million units sold worldwide, as well as a gold-selling #2 DVD release with ‘Walk With Me In Hell’ (2008).

LOG are old hands at success though complacent they are not. More than two agonising years of waiting and LOG have not disappointed with this, their heaviest, darkest and most unrelenting record yet. Based around the 10 plagues from the book of Exodus; ‘Wrath’ combines hardcore metal, thrash and death to form a heady mixture that challenges anyone not to headbang while offering a texture and complexity that makes it arguably the most progressive offering yet.

Lamb of God

The album opens up with a smooth cool laid back vibe that could let the listener believe that LOG have hit the mellow sold down the river rock trail, but as soon as track two kicks in you are left in no doubt that if you thought that they were merely just ‘Heavy’ before, then now they bring the ‘Power’ to the table and take the genre screaming and kicking beyond the next level, Machine Head delivered ‘The Blackening’ which changed the rules, Slipknot once again redefined those same rules in 2008, Metallica returned to re-claim their ‘Kings Of metal’ crown, but not since the heady days of Dimebag & Phil have we had anything close to this, it really is Far Beyond Driven for the 21st century…

Beginning the European leg of their latest tour in early February in the UK, fans will have a taste of new material even before the release date, mixed with old favourites to further spread the plague of Wrath around the world. I attended the Manchester show on Friday 13th In Manchester, England, We waited, and they answered.
