The Stones Support Announced

I’ve been a fan of Scotland’s Phil Campbell since the late nineties following the release of one of my most revered records, FRESH NEW LIFE. For many years Campbell has never really hit the high spots in media terms despite the fact that as a solo artist and band leadman he has written and released some of the finest rock songs ever recorded in the UK. Then in 2013 came his latest band project, The Temperance Movement, which immediately struck a chord with the media and music-lovers, and Campbell was able to write and release without sacrificing quality and integrity.

His story reminds me of Ireland’s Glen Hansard and his band the Frames. The band started back in the latre 80s and remained unloved by the British media despite several glorious albums, fabulous music and a fiersome live reputation. It took a rather ordinary song and Oscar award for Britain to wake up…

I suppose what I’m trying to say here is if musicians truly possess talent and great songs they will eventually make it, albeit in years rather than months. The news that The Temperance Movement will be touring with the Rolling Stones proves that where there is true talent, integrity and persistence it really can happen…

The UK’s finest new blues rock band, THE TEMPERANCE MOVEMENT, will be special guests to THE ROLLING STONES on four European dates next month.  The band will also play Download on June 13th and T in the Park on July 12th.

In little more than a year, THE TEMPERANCE MOVEMENT have gone from playing pubs to selling out the Shepherd’s Bush Empire and now playing stadiums with THE ROLLING STONES.  Apparently dreams do come true!

Guitarist PAUL SAYER says:

“I remember hearing ‘Tumbling Dice’ for the first time when I was a kid and it made me want to pick up a guitar and write songs.  They’re the best rock and roll band in the world.  We’ve been told Mick personally asked for us.  So impressive that the band are still in touch and interested in new music.  It’s gonna be a blast!”

Jun. 01 - Zurich, Switzerland - Letzigrund Stadium
Jun. 10 - Berlin, Germany - Waldbuhne
Jun. 16 - Vienna, Austria - ErnstHappel Stadium
Jun. 19 - Dusseldorf, Germany - Esprit Arena

THE TEMPERANCE MOVEMENT’s self-titled debut album was released in September 2013.  A deluxe version of that album with new tracks will be released this autumn.
