Freya Ridings is an English singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Ridings rose to prominence in 2017 with her ballad, ‘Lost Without You’, which became a top ten hit on the UK Singles Chart. She followed this with the release of her debut extended play, YOU MEAN THE WORLD TO ME (2019). Her self-titled debut album was supported by the single ‘Castles’, which would become her international breakthrough.

I first witnessed a Freya performance back in 2018 in Manchester when she performed on her own behind a keyboard. I was impressed with her song-writing which was deeply personal and her powerful and expressive vocal quality. Today she reminded me of just how personal her songs are as each song received an explanation prior to performance. I witnessed an artist who has developed her talent and confidence over the years as she totally captivated the audience. Performing with two backing singers and floating between instruments (she plays a few…) she underlined the fact that she is one of the UK’s premier talents who is the process of opening up her song-writing to cover a wider variety of moods. I was more than impressed and surprised when the crowd sang along with a couple of the tunes. She ended with arguably her most popular song, ‘Lost Without You’, which was performed with such deep emotion I believed every lyric.
