Eddie Vedder & Glen Hansard Live Like a hurricane Hansard has come and gone in what seems minutes and we were left with the very simple stage set for the main course. Now I arrived with a photo pass and found it very strange that for this major show I was the sole press photographer. As I prepared my camera at the side of the stage for Vedder a young lady saddled up next to me and proceeded to give me precise instructions on where I could stand and how many songs I could photograph. She then stayed to watch over me. Vedder duly appeared and for those first three songs blew me and the audience away, but then as I packed my gear under the watchful eye of the young lady I gained the strong impression that my presence was no longer required and was actually led away and out of the building. This stopped me from carrying out my other task which was to review the full Vedder show. And what a show I missed!!! The setlist was comprehensive, long and amazing. It covered a host of Pearl Jam songs, Vedder songs, movie songs, cover songs and some fascinating duettes with Hansard (singing a few Hansard songs and others). It also looks as though there was not one encore but two…Annoyed? I was friggin’ angry but at least grateful that I had witnessed and photographed three vintage Vedder performances and of course maestro Hansard (who recently released his first solo album and a potential Shakenstir ‘album of the year’).
