We Rock Like Girls Don’t Session WE ROCK LIKE GIRLS DON’T began when Glaswegian guitarist/ vocalist Ros Cairney advertised for a Rock’n'Roll Freak in London paper Loot and met her match in London/ Greek drummer Vas Antoniadou. They recently did three songs for the Double Six Club which you can click and watch right here on Shakenstir… The Sessions can be seen with a host of other good shit by clicking This: : http://www.doublesixclub.tv/ Initially a trio, the band received attention with two self released 7” singles ROCK’N'ROLL FREAK and I JUST WANNA STICK MY HEAD IN THE BASS DRUM, and infiltrated the final of Onemusic Unsigned on daytime Radio 1. After a period of what one might call ‘musical differences’ they downsized to a duo without losing any of their visceral intensity and released third single VIOLENCE. Self-financed debut album HOW DID IT GET TO THIS followed to underground critical acclaim in 2009. The pair spent 2009 touring the UK, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Italy in their beat up VW estate held together with string and gaffer tape, spurred on by stage invasions in Germany and the crowd singing the words for them at the Leffingeleuren Festival in Belgium. In August the band signed to DOMINO PUBLISHING COMPANY and got off to a flying start in January 2010 by recording new material with Gossip/ Sleater-Kinney producer John Goodmanson at Two Sticks Studios, Seattle. New double A side single WELCOME TO MY WORLD/ FEELING LONELY NOW is released on 26th April 2010 via Cargo on all major download services. DEBUT ALBUM REVIEWS: “How Did It Get To This is the kind of awesome rock record we don’t hear often enough. Dirty riffs roar and screech against relentless rhythms and catchy pop choruses; think PJ Harvey and QOTSA in a bloody, pummeled-to-tiny pieces musical fist fight” 8/10 NME “How Did It Get To This recalls the feral ferocity of early PJ Harvey, the stark rock fire of Pixies and the insouciance of Yeah Yeah Yeahs” METRO “Loud, bad-assed and swaggering, though certainly not lacking in melody, WRLGD have carved themselves a secure niche in back-to-basics lo-fi rock” TOURDATES “We Rock Like Girls Don’t have a refreshingly honest sound full of power and aggressive distortion and if you can get passed their terrible moniker you will discover some great, raw, rough around the edges, rock and roll tinged tunes bathed in fuzzy, heavy riffs, nasty, intense drums and surprisingly, some really catchy and memorable melodies, (reminiscent of PJ Harvey in her heavier moments) with vocals you can sing along to.” PLANET LOUD
