Totalrock: Online & On Your Phone.
Call Up The Radio… There was an article in a recent edition of one of my favourite magazines ‘classic rock’ which bemoaned the state of rock radio here in the UK… It seemed centered on the fact that BBC Radio 1 and 2 were not what we could call really into playing rock and it seemed hell-bent on dividing the rock genre - Kings of Leon, they are on R1/R2 but they are not rock! So the whole scene seems so divided and everyone is too busy arguing about ‘what is rock?’ Meanwhile, the rest of us out here are doing exactly what we have done for the last 30-40 years and ‘getting it where we can.’ I certainly can remember in the late 70’s and early 80’s we had the Friday rock show and it was the blueprint for everything that followed and the producer of that show Tony Wilson went off and with the help of that new fangled internet thing he started up called Totalrock.com… Now in 2009 you can get your phone and you can hear 24-7 Totalrock radio wherever you are. You can have every imaginable style of rock you want; it’s all on there… You won’t like it all, it’s not possible, but I can tell you this, you will love it, sitting on the train ride from work, or the school bus rocking out to the best of every genre you can think of, never mind the buzzcocks… So check out the site, check on the myspace, get your face on the book, and get tweety with twitter… and if you have a phone, let your fingers do the walking… Forget the mainstream old school… the new school of rock is here and now. Switch on, tune in, turn up, Totalrock…
