Yeah Yeah Yeahs

If ever there was a gift for a concert photographer, Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs is it! It was at the Manchester Apollo on X-Factor final night. I hadn’t seen the band perform before and had not seen any photos, so I did not know what to expect. The instrumentalists wandered onto the stage first followed a few seconds later by a kimono-clad figure sporting architectural head gear, and walking at snail’s pace to the front of the stage. It was eerie! It was Karen!

As the show progressed Karen would leave the stage to shed a piece of clothing - the first was her head gear.

Then the kimono…

And then she rocked!

The show was a revelation to me, and certainly the most magnetic/compelling of the year.
