Rise Against

One of my favourite rock shows of the year with well-balanced lighting which provided a great atmosphere for everyone, and just enough light to capture some startling moments. Rise Against is an intensely political band (as its name implies) who love their country but not the way its governed. I wanted to capture all this in one image and the opportunity arose when the lead singer stood stage-centre in between two American flags with his drummer slap bang in the middle of his legs. I love this shot!

Occasionally bright flashes of light would explode from the rear of the stage - a realy difficult photography scenario. But on this occasion I was able to use it to create a very dramatic effect during the performance by support band Thursday.
