Wallis Bird

Discovering new artists and their music is the most exciting aspect of our work. Wallis Bird is a young Irish singer/songwriter who on this ocassion was supportng her label mates Rodrigo Y Gabriela. Despite performing without her band in a large venue (the 2,500 capacity Manchester Apollo), she was awesome. In fact so much so that after her set many punters trooped out to the merch stand to buy her record.

She was animated, funny and, amongst female performers, has to be one of the most passionate.

One of my favourite shows of the year was provided by an acoustic guitar duo who I have seen perform several times. Rodrigo Y Gabriela played a superb sell-out show at the large Manchester Apollo which blew me away.

On this occasion, instead of sitting to play, they stood and stalked the stage, often meeting in the middle to do acoustic battle.
