Redlight King!

red-0

Canadian Redlight King has just released one of the best pop-rock albums of the year and is on tour soon. Definitely an act to watch out for…

CANADIAN-BORN ROCKER ‘KAZ’ RELEASES ‘SOMETHING FOR THE PAIN’ ALBUM ON AUGUST 20th VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS; LEAD SINGLE ‘COMEBACK’ TAKEN FROM ‘THE AVENGERS ASSEMBLE’, ONE OF THE HIGHEST GROSSING FILMS EVER…

REDLIGHT KING, the touring and recording project centred around vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Mark Kasprzyk, released their debut album in the UK on August 20th via Spinefarm Records.

red-2

Titled ‘Something For The Pain’ and Produced by WAX LTD, whose previous credits include Muse, The Rolling Stones and New Order, this 11-track outing features the singles ‘Old Man’, which includes a Neil Young sample plus an appearance from pro skateboarder Edward James Quaintance in the video, (now registering over 3 million views), and ‘Comeback’, the second single/video from ‘The Avengers Assemble’ soundtrack; ‘The Avengers Assemble’ is now one of the highest grossing films ever, setting box office records around the world. The video for ‘Comeback’ – the second single from ‘The Avengers Assemble’ soundtrack, following on from ‘Live To Rise’ by Soundgarden – features footage from the blockbuster movie intercut with a performance by the band.

The full track-listing for ‘Something For The Pain’ is as follows: 1. Something For The Pain 2. Bullet In My Hand 3. Old Man 4. City Life 5. Comeback 6. Driven To Kalifornia 7. Built To Last 8. Underground 9. Little Darlin 10. Past The Gates 11. When The Dust Settles Down

REDLIGHT KING, signed to Hollywood Records in the US, first came into being back in 2011.

For ‘Kaz’ – judo expert, one-time rapper and former Juno Best New Artist Winner – the project (named after his father’s vintage Plymouth Barracuda) was the perfect vehicle for his vast array of songs, mixing rock & hip hop influences to telling effect, and it wasn’t long before RK was showing real signs of success; these included an appearance on the prestigious Tonight Show, hosted by Jay Leno, plus well in excess of 100,000 sales for the ‘Old Man’ single. ‘Kaz’ & Redlight King are currently on the road in the US, playing headline shows prior to joining the line-up for the Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival in August & September.

Customer Comment:

Redlight King wanted to sample Neil Young for their single “Old Man”. Mr. Young’s management said no but the man himself, upon hearing the song, said yes. Neil Young was quite right.

Redlight King have released an utterly amazing album that perfectly blends the worlds of rap, pop and rock into an effortlessly catchy, emotionally deep and expertly-crafted contender for album of the year. Sound-wise, I would say it’s a combination of early Linkin Park’s anthemic melodies and wall-of-distortion sounds and The Gaslight Anthem’s down-and-out bluesy poetry and rough-edged vocals. All of the tracks are good, but particular stand-outs include the life-affirming Comeback, the summery single Old Man or the beefy riff-driven Bullet in My Hand. It’s a great album from start to finish that begs to be listened to on a blisteringly hot day with plenty of chilled beer to hand. It is literally impossible to listen to this gem without nodding your head in time with the infectious, intelligent beats.

If there was justice in the music industry, this would sell millions of copies. All I can say is if you want a complex and intelligent pop album with fantastic melodies and plenty of emotional power, stop reading and buy “Something For the Pain” now - Jonny
