My Focus Wales 2012 Day 3 My favourite Welsh band is playing at the strange time of 5pm at Central Station so it’s there I’m heading and spending the last few hours of Focus Wales 2012. Last year The Reads released a stunning debut album that, like so many great pieces of work, was generally ignored by The Welsh Music Prize people and National Radio. The 6-piece Llandudno band produce the most stunning live music. Over the last 6 months I’ve played every song from the album (called STORIES FROM THE BORDER) which means only one thing - IT’S A BRILLIANT ALBUM! Bring The Soul are a new Wrexham band about to launch themselves formerly in May at Central Station. “Bring The Soul are a 5 piece Rock ‘n’ Roll band with a unique modern twist. The 5 piece hailing from Wrexham, and their repitoire contains a selection of songs ready to take on the world. Be ready for their second EP which is set to be released in early April. Two songs from their first E.P “Lick Of Light” can be heard on Facebook and via their soundc…lound page at www.soundcloud.com/bringthesoul.” ‘Music matched by attitude’ sort of sums up this band led by Gallagher-esque leadman Benjamin Harvey. While the band is brand new the impression gained was a band that had been there, done that. Good songs, wonderful, tight instrumental performances and a frontman with more than enough charisma and confidence to sink a battleship. Young Ben was the most impressive frontman at Focus Wales 2012 and I would love to see these rock ‘n’ rollers break through in 2012. They deserve to. |
