Best Albums of 2015 Slayer REPENTLESS. Nuclear Blast. Heavy Rock “This album is Slayer at their best.” False Advertising FALSE ADVERTISING. False Advertising. Indie Rock “The band is clearly trying to find their own sound, touching on numerous influences across the album (sometimes less subtly). The band lurches from American grunge in ‘Breaker’ to pop-punk teenage frustration in ‘Dozer’. 90s britpop with fuzzy touches is on show in ‘I Don’t know’, and Royal Blood’s Hard Rock aggression is emulated in ‘No Good’.” Gabrielle Papillon TEMPEST OF OLD. Imports. Folk Pop “Gabrielle Papillon is one of those artists whose music is driven by her voice, lyrics and guitar. To call her simply a singer/songwriter would miss the point by leaving out a whole other dimension: the nostalgic distance and fragile aesthetics she brings vocally.” Troyka ORNITHOPHOBIA. Naim Jazz. Jazz Fusion “Creative and adventerous. Another hugely impressive and ambitious album from Troyka” BEST REMIXES Mark Lanegan A THOUSAND MILES OF MIDNIGHT - PHANTOM RADIO REMIXES. Heavenly Recordings. Folk/Electronic “Great collection of remixed versions of Mark Lanegan’s latest album” BEST COMPILATION
“…the tracklisting is faithful to a band who’ve successfully navigated their 25 year career with few compromises.” “This is a collection of songs from throughout the twenty five years we’ve been a band. We initially wanted to mark this anniversary with a sort of ‘Best of The Frames’. We put together a few different versions, including a certain number of songs from each record and including more popular live and radio songs – but this felt forced and incongruous. After many conversations amongst ourselves we decided it should simply be a collection of our favourite tunes, songs we would be happy to put on a mix-tape for a friend. So, here it is, with no regard to what album is most or least represented. It’s a short collection of tunes we are proud of, some in slightly different versions from the original recordings, and one new song. This is not the sum of our career but maybe some of the songs where we felt we had broken through to a new place or gotten better as a band. We hope you like it….we hope you enjoy it.” - GLEN HANSARD “Whether you are a new fan of The Frames, have never heard of them before, or have every song memorized, this album will be a treat for you.” BEST LIVE Black Rebel Motorcycle Club LIVE IN PARIS. Abstract Dragon. Alternative Rock “Stunning! BRMC are an incredible and beautifull band. This includes a double audio cd and live concert dvd withdocumentry. A treasure.” Roger Waters THE WALL (live). Columbia. Rock “Waters at his best!” |
