Dudley Moore ‘Dudley Down Under’ THE DUDLEY MOORE TRIO: ‘DUDLEY DOWN UNDER – UNABRIDGED’ The Full 1978 Sydney Town Hall Concert Released For The First Time (MARTINE AVENUE PRODUCTIONS)! Tuesday, March 27th 2012 marked a poignant anniversary – it being ten years since the passing of the great Dudley Moore, at the age of sixty-six. As his legions of fans worldwide will attest, Dudley was a unique, mercurial, much-loved talent, whether as one of the original team of the epochal Beyond The Fringe stage show, or one half of the classic comedy duo with Peter Cook, or as an acclaimed and Academy Award nominated actor, Moore enjoyed a rich and multi-faceted career. However, music (in all its varied forms), was the enduring love of Dudley’s life, and it is with great pleasure that we announce the June15th 2012 release of Dudley Down Under, a Double CD release, which comprises the entire concert from the Dudley Moore Trio’s renowned May 2, 1978 appearance in Sydney Town Hall, Australia. Recorded live, the concert was broadcast at the time and later excerpted by Cube Records in the UK. Released via Martine Avenue Productions, Inc, the company formed by Dudley and his longtime musical partner, Rena Fruchter, this release features not only many fine musical performances, but is also considerably enhanced by Dudley’s hilarious and insightful comedy and introductions. The CD is called “Dudley Down Under—Unabridged and features close to an hour and fifty minutes of music and comedy. Due to LP space constraints in 1978, only nine of the 22 musical numbers appeared on the original vinyl release. Now, the digitally remastered CD features every piece on the concert, many selections with trio members Peter Morgan (bass) and Chris Karan (drums), and including Dudley’s solo musical parodies as well. Some of the highlights are the trio’s performances of such standards as Love Walked In, Georgia on My Mind, and Autumn in New York, and Dudley’s hits including Song for Suzy, Strictly For the Birds, and Cornfield” from the original movie Bedazzled, along with Dudley’s parodies of Schubert and Beethoven, and a version of “Goodbyee” like it has never been heard–since the live performance in 1978. Martine Avenue Productions, Inc. was created by Dudley Moore and Rena Fruchter in order to bring Dudley’s musical compositions and performances to the public. Dudley Moore spearheaded the company’s releases, starting with “Live From an Aircraft Hangar” in 2000. The company continues with his mission, donating proceeds to Music For All Seasons and the Society for PSP. In addition to the new CD, productions include Jazz Jubilee; Jazz, Blues & Moore; Dudley; Jazz in OZ DVD and CD; Bedazzled-revisited; Letters from Dudley; and the Songs Without Words piano score.
