Download Festival: They Came, We Saw (& Stayed @Home) 2009 heralds the return of the UK’s #1 Rock Festival… Shakenstir would have been there, but as we are not ‘press or online!’ we did not go… Figure that one out for yourselves as we have a TEN year old music website (online) AND a digital magazine (press)… You could have just watched most of it live and for free, we did and it was boss… Download Festival have announced the set of confirmed acts for this year’s event, and amongst those set to appear are Faith No More, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Slipknot, ZZTop, Marilyn Manson, Killswitch Engage, The Prodigy, Motley Crue, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, Devildriver, Dragonforce, Trivium, Journey, Chris Cornell, Down, Skin, Clutch, Black Stone Cherry, Tesla, Karma 2 Burn, Parkway Drive, Anvil, Dream Theater, Billy Talent, Buckcherry, The Blackout and Pendulum. It takes place from 12 - 14 Jun at Donington Park. Download is to stream performances from its main stage live and free on its Web site during the weekend of June 12-14.The initiative was brought in during the 2007 festival by promoter Live Nation. The streamed bands that year included Iron Maiden during the three-day event. Although streaming was not on offer last year, a spokesperson for the festival says all the acts on the mainstage line-up have signed up to have their performances shown online. This year’s bill includes Faith No More, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit and Def Leppard. Asked about having a new rival (Sonisphere) in the UK festival market, Live Nation UK’s current Festival Director John Probyn said: “I don’t really care. Last year we were up against Reading and Leeds [festivals] who had a very similar line-up to what we’d normally have, and we still did our numbers and we’re happy. This year if we’ve got something else to compete with, then fine”. Check Here 4 Updates: www.downloadfestival.co.uk |
