Status Quo: Rockin’ The Pops! Status Quo Rockin’ All Over The Pops Friday 9th July 2010 – Liverpool Echo Arena CMP ENTERTAINMENT, are proud to announce rockers STATUS QUO as the latest act to sign up for The Liverpool Summer Pops Festival. They will perform at the Liverpool Echo Arena on Friday 9th July 2010. Tickets for this show will go on sale 9am on Friday 5th February 2010. More big names are to be revealed over the coming weeks. “I’m delighted my old friends and rocking legends Status Quo are playing the Summer Pops, I’ve worked with them on numerous shows over the years and they always put on a great show” said Chas Cole from CMP. “We always love playing Liverpool because the audience is always so fantastic, we’re really looking forward to playing the Summer Pops,” said singer Rick Parfitt. Singer Francis Rossi knows Liverpool well and spent a lot of his youth here as his mother is from Crosby. In 2009 Status Quo played at the Glastonbury Festival. In the same year Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt were awarded the OBE in the New Year Honours for their long-standing work for charities including the Prince’s Trust, the Heart Foundation and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy. Status Quo’s total world-wide record sales exceed 118 million units and they have recorded 64 British hit singles - more than any other band - 22 of which have hit the Top Ten. The first hit was ‘Pictures Of Matchstick Men’ which reached Number 7 in January 1968. In 1981 Quo became one of the first recipients of the coveted Silver Clef Award, presented annually by the Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Trust for outstanding services to British music. In 1985 Quo opened Live Aid with the song which was to become the event’s anthem ‘Rockin’ All Over The World’. Founders Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt are the original members, the Quo line up up includes keyboard player Andrew Brown joined in 1976, John ‘Rhino’ Edwards (bass) joined in 1986 and Matt Letley (drums) arrived in May 2000.
