Chester Rocked in 2011 Then it’s my first live experience of Leftfield before leaving for home. Of all the electronic acts, Leftfield has always been a favourite and particularly those older songs. Just three guys (including drummer Sebastian Beresford) and a massive rear projection is all it took to bring the audience back to life after a long, hot day. Leftfield are a British duo of electronica artists and record producers, Paul Daley and Neil Barnes, who formed in 1990 in London, England. The name Leftfield was originally used simply by Barnes for its first single with editing/arranging and additional production added by Daley “Not Forgotten”, but after this, Daley was involved in remixing “Not Forgotten” and then in the creation of all Leftfield’s music. The pair were pioneers in the fields of intelligent dance music and progressive house, being among the first to fuse house music with dub and reggae. They were among the first electronic musicians to incorporate live guest vocalists, along with The Chemical Brothers and Underworld. Ultimately the duo have been one of the most influential electronic bands.
A couple of songs in and I had to leave to retrieve my dog from its temporary carer. Chester Rocks should be justifiably proud at what they have achieved over these two sunny days. Not much of the music was to my liking but I was impressed by the live talents on show and the relaxing and very enjoyable atmosphere that was created. Now how about getting Roger Waters over to perform his new live version of The Wall - if Chester Rocks can be achieved so well, I’m sure Waters would be a sellout or maybe 2-3 hours of Australian Pink Floyd… WELL DONE CHESTER ROCKS!!!!! |
