Summer Pops: Liverpool: 2009! THE AUSTRALIAN PINK FLOYD SHOW, are set to make Pop’s history, with their eighth Pops year in a row, with two very special Liverpool shows; The Wall on Friday 3rd July and Saturday 1st August. For the first time in over 25 Years, they perform Pink Floyd’s legendary rock opera ‘THE WALL’ live in concert and in its entirety on both nights. The show includes an amazing new stage production and will include new animation, lasers & inflatables, plus a very special ‘greatest hits’ encore. The band have also promising a special Liverpool only surprise for these two shows. “We always love coming to Liverpool, there is always a party atmosphere to our shows and Liverpool feels like a second home to us now. Expect a few extra surprises just for you guys” said singer/bass player Colin Wilson, currently on tour in Europe. BEATLES DAY - THE CONCERT, returns on Friday 10th July. Following on from the success of last year’ s inaugural charity event, Beatles Day, as a host of stars perform Beatles songs. Further details of this year’s Beatles Day events and performers for the concert will be revealed over the forthcoming weeks. The UK’s most popular pianist and bandleader, JOOLS HOLLAND AND HIS RHYTHM AND BLUES ORCHESTRA, will headline a very special Liverpool show on Friday 24th July 2008. Special guests include the legendary guitarist Dave Edmunds. Jools Holland, OBE, has performed and recorded with some of the most talented musicians and songwriters in the world, including Eric Clapton, the late George Harrison and Luther Vandross, Sting, BB King and Paul Weller. “It wouldn’t be summer without a visit to the Summer Pops, myself and the band can’t wait to be back in Liverpool.” Said Jools Holland. SIMPLY RED, bring their greatest hits tour to the Pops on Saturday 25th July. This year Mick Hucknall celebrates 25 years of unbroken service with the band he founded, fronted and named. Simply Red emerged out of the streets and clubs of Manchester in the post-punk era of 1984 and within 12 months were riding in the British charts. Their phenomenal career has spanned three decades; they’ve released 10 studio albums racking up over fifty million global sales, notched up over 30 top 40 UK singles, won countless awards including 3 Brits, 2 Ivor Novellos and a Mobo Special Achievement. They have played more than 1000 live shows to over 10 million people. Liverpool band, THE LOTUS EATERS, soared into the UK top twenty in 1983 with ‘The First Picture Of You’, a song that remains synonymous with British summertime. They perform at The Liverpool Philharmonic Hall for the first time since their sold out show in 1984, in support of the miners’ struggle. DEACON BLUE, have announced their fourth consecutive Pops show on Friday 31st July. Underlining the affinity the band has with this City and their Scouse fans, singer-songwriter, Ricky Ross said “It’s no secret we always love playing Liverpool, the spirit and loyalty of our fans here never fails to amaze us. Liverpool will always have a special place in our hearts ” Deacon Blue are one of the most commercially successful British bands of the time, with 18 UK Top 40 hit singles and 5 Top 5 UK albums, 2 of which were No 1 albums. Deacon Blue first stormed the charts back in 1988 with the single, ‘Dignity.’ Other hits include ‘Real Gone Kid’ and ‘Chocolate Girl’. Whilst their 2005 “Singles” album hit the Top 20.
