The following three tracks were recorded in London on November 6, 1964, and were broadcast that night on the BBC Light Programme “Top Gear.”  For decades it was assumed that these recordings had been lost, but the compilation producers were recently able to acquire a vintage tape of The Beach Boys’ performances, recorded off the air from a BBC re-broadcast in 1966 by Ian Gane.  The audio quality of the surviving tape is not pristine, but we believe that the historical significance of this material warrants its inclusion on this box set.  The Beach Boys and Capitol Records are pleased to include three numbers from this long-lost performance from The Beach Boys’ first European tour in 1964.
