‘What’s Love Got To Do With It?’
Well, just about everything for me where music is concerned, and which is why I feel that 2008 has been a relatively poor album release year. Each year I (usually) have a yardstick album to judge everything else by, but in 2008 there really wasn’t one. That’s not to say that there were some good albums released of which the following were my best (in no particular order):
The Dears MISSILES
Disturbed INDESTRUCTABLE
The King Blues SAVE THE WORLD, GET THE GIRL
Infadels UNIVERSE IN REVERSE
Elbow THE SELDOM SEEN KID
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds DIG, LAZARUS DIG
David Holmes THE HOLY PICTURES
Hot Chip MADE IN THE DARK
Bob Iver FOR EMMA, FOREVER AGO
Sigur Ros MED SUD I EYRUM VID SPILUM ENDALAUST
Metallica DEATH MAGNETIC
Slaves To Gravity SCATTER THE CROW
The Shortwave Set REPLICA SUN MACHINE
Martha Wainwright I KNOW YOU’RE MARRIED BUT I’VE GOT FEELINGS TOO
Mêlée DEVILS & ANGELS
Attic Lights FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
The Acorn GLORY HOPE MOUNTAIN
Flight of The Conchords FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS
All Our Good Friends PROMISE
