It’s not often that one puts a new CD into the player and is immediately struck by its quality – big time! The fact that singer/songwriter TD Lind records on a small and humble indie label is no real surprise since many such labels find their way into the top echelons of our ‘best of year’ list. This is a pretty special album…

The rollercoaster ride starts with track one, pop blockbuster Radio Proposal. Twinkling piano notes introduce Lind’s bold vocal accompanied by the most powerful of melodies, clever guitar flashes, and that piano becoming more boisterous as the song progresses. It’s a love song with big brass balls that could so easily conquer the singles chart. The vibe continues in exuberant mood with pop ballad Falling, this time aided by glorious orchestral and vocal harmony passeges. Lind lifts his vocal to new heights as he declares his undying love in another song that could go stratospheric. Things calm somewhat with Let’s Get Lost, and an unusual instrumental backdrop, dominated by what sounds like a low sling synth. It’s another beauty. The pace and mood is nicely diverse with Milestone’s gentle acoustic vibe, and the Kentucky Blue Grass of Disco Boat. Then there’s the heavier rock vibe of One Fine Day with its stunning guitar moments, and strong alt country/blues vibe of Come In From The Cold. There’s also the curious mix of country and gospel in the spellbinding Jesus Christ complete with several ‘Hallelujahs.’
This is one remarkable record that will find its way into our best albums of 2007 list come December. It’s assured, diverse and strong in every musical department with lyrical content that is simple and beyond reproach. Hell, it’s an essential album so go buy…
