Jamie Cullum LIVE AT BLENHEIM PALACE DVD. Universal

Earlier this year I witnessed and excellent live performance from Jamie Cullum in Manchester. While his album didn’t impress me, his live performance was one of the best I’ve seen in 2004. The prospect of a live DVD is therefore more interesting and as if reading my mind, Cullum has just released his first DVD.

Using live footage from his recent show at Blenheim Palace in front of 10,000 people, the film is in the style of Scorsese’s Last Waltz, or the classic films of Monterey and Woodstock.

It inter-cuts Cullum’s performance with exclusive footage from his recent USA and UK tours, backstage antics, on-the-road, Glastonbury, and a US video shoot. It contains 90 minutes of concert with approximately 26 minutes of documentary footage. The DVD will also include three tracks recorded exclusively for AOL, the Wind Cries Mary video (previously unseen), an enhanced section which features a Jamie Cullum Songbuilder game, wallpapers, screensavers, and much more.

The DVD track-listing is as follows:

I Get A Kick, Frontin’, All At Sea, Old Devil Moon, God Only Knows, What A Difference A Day Made, Why Do Today What You Can Do Tomorrow, Next Year Baby, Wind Cries Mary, Lover You Should Have Come Over, High & Dry/I’m Singing In The Rain, These Are The Days, I Could Have Danced All Night, But For Now.

The DVD features the following extra features:

All At Sea video, These Are The Days video, Wind Cries Mary (previously unseen video), The Making Of Wind Cries Mary video, Jamie Cullum At Glastonbury video, 26 minutes of exclusive on-the-road video footage from the USA and UK tours, I Want To Be A Popstar (previously unseen performance video), and an enhanced section featuring a Build-A-Song game.

In total there’s over two hours and twenty-five minutes of vibrant, quality music and video. If you’re looking for ideas for Christmas presents, this one is sure to appeal to just about everybody, and of course the many thousands who bought his debut album (which is also about to be re-released with new content).
