Upside Down: Music 4 Youth

soccer-mom1

UPSIDE DOWN is the sensational new album from Canadian ‘Soccer Mom - Rocker Mom’, Stacey Jackson and a host of rising musical youth talent from across the UK! Released February 8th 2010

“Synths and Bon Jovi guitars, not to mention her strident vocal, give it a whole new lease of life, in a bizarrely addictive way.” Dave Simpson - The Guardian

“That experience that all those musicians had to play on your album was just fantastic because what you gave them was a truly professional experience of working in a studio, working with a producer, working with you. And that is something they will genuinely remember for a long, long time. Thank you for giving them that chance.” Lincoln Abbotts - CEO of Music for Youth

“It was absolutely brilliant. I came down to London on my own (which was for the first time) and basically it was sort of the best experience of my life so far because I met all these people that were extremely talented, like Stacey herself, and got to play on this great album with old tunes that have been revamped for new musical tastes. It was fantastic, I got loads of inspiration from the guys there.” Jack Davis - guitarist

Stacey Jackson ‘Soccer Mom, Rocker Mom,’ is raising money for leading children’s music charity ‘Music for Youth’ (MFY) with an album paying tribute to all her favourite Motown tracks. She has linked with the charity and invited some of the most talented young musicians from across the country to perform as session musicians on her brand new album, Upside Down.

Music for Youth is a national music charity with a worldwide reputation for its work in music education. It provides free access to performance opportunities for all types of groups performing any musical style through a nationwide series of festivals and concerts. Founded in 1970, MFY will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year. Since it began, over two million young people ranging in age from four to twenty-one, have taken part in the MFY Season.

Over the years, artists like Evelyn Glennie, Michael Collins, Jason Yarde and Nigel Kennedy have all taken part in MFY’s events. MFY’s most impressive strand is the annual Regional Festival Series which encompasses 70 Festivals held across the UK. These Festivals held each Spring have the greatest reach, currently involving around 45,000 young musicians and singers are a great opportunity for groups to perform to new audiences, listen to other groups from their local area and get valuable feedback from the MFY Music Mentors.

Stacey Jackson relocating ten years ago to Chelsea, where she lives with her husband and four children and returned to performing. She has not only encouraged these children to get involved in a unique project but allowed them to be involved completely in the recording process, working in some of the finest studios in London with top producers, engineers and musicians. Working alongside these professionals was a fantastic opportunity for the young musicians who performed on the album and a real once in a lifetime opportunity for some.

All profits from Upside Down will be donated to Music for Youth. With Stacey Jackson as Executive Producer, the force of MFY and some of the UK’s finest young musical talent, you’d better watch out!
