Hot Off The Press: #1
To get a first taster, EP track “So Far Away” can be downloaded for free here: http://www.scjag.com/mp3/do/sofaraway.mp3 ”So Far Away” takes all the pure pop perfection of The Box Tops’ “The Letter” and shoots it through with a barely-harnessed dark energy and snarling propulsion. Onwards To The Wall packs every bit of the searing sonic maelstrom listeners have come to expect from APTBS. Produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by APTBS themselves, this is the sound of a band in control of making out-of-control music. Now joined by bassist Dion Lunadon, formerly of The D4, lead singer and guitarist Oliver Ackerman has found a crucial companion in pulling timeless melodies from their jet engine textures. The adroit songcraft that’s always been there is brought to the fore, with familiar pop hooks repurposed for maximum carnage. A handful of contemporary bands are currently exploring the new limits of loud. Here, APTBS proves that they have not only been leading that charge, but that they are also evolving and maturing on those front lines. Onwards To The Wall is a fresh, complete artistic statement from APTBS. It’s a new chapter, a prelude for what awaits us on the horizon. It is a taste of greatness to come. Tracklisting: 1. I Lost You 2. So Far Away 3. Onwards To The Wall 4. Nothing Will Surprise Me 5. Drill It Up. Onwards To The Wall will be released February 6 on CD/12″/Digital formats. A Place To Bury Strangers will bring their senses-stunning live show back to the UK in spring 2012. Dates to be announced in due course… http://www.aplacetoburystrangers.com/
“an exuberant performance, the unsigned part will soon be a thing of the past” - Annie Nightingale - Radio 1 Formed in 2006, The Detours’ combination of energetic guitar riffs and soaring sing-a-long choruses has seen them amass a legion of loyal fans. The band have had the pleasure of sharing stages with many distinguished artists including Bury Tomorrow, Asking Alexandria, The Answer and Slaves To Gravity to name but a few. A slight re-jig of the primary lineup in 2010 saw the introduction of the very experienced vocalist Matt Littlefair. With his arrival, a maturity in the band’s songwriting developed, and his cleaner vocal added new dimensions, possibilities and commercial appeal. Having appeared live on Channel 4’s ‘Orange Unsigned’ show, and beaten off over 10,000 other acts to win Live & Unsigned 2009, The Detours have unsurprisingly become renowned for their dynamic live shows. With their debut EP, ‘Ignite’, they hope to capture that energy for which they’ve become so well known. Opening track One Last Chance recalls Four Ways To Scream Your Name era Funeral For A Friend, the title track riffs itself into a frenzy, while Free simply soars its way to the finish line. 2011 was a year of firsts for the band; first festival appearance, first single launch and first music video. 2012 welcomes The Detours with open arms, and will kick off fully when they play select Scottish tour dates with Attack! Attack! this February.
In anticipation of the release, band has released today the first single “Forever” available for digital purchase today for fans who can’t wait ‘forever’ to own a piece of Feel The Power, which is set to drop in stores and online January 24th. ‘Forever’ is indicative of the type of pulse-rasing, headbang-inducing, ’80s-influenced rock assault that BLESSED will deliver on their Tooth & Nail / Rude Records debut. Feel the Power, the follow-up to the band’s celebrated 2008 album Pedal to the Metal (Century Media), sees the band shrugging off metalcore trappings in favor of something more heartfelt. The band is at the same time giving fans a first glimpse at the album’s tracklisting (listed below), as well as the artwork (at right), reminiscent of the space-punk apocalypse for which BBABH’s music is the perfect soundtrack. Feel the Power marks the next step in the evolution of BLESSED, who make their debut on Tooth & Nail Records / Rude records in Europe after a fruitful stint on Century Media Records, which released the band’s celebrated 2008 album Pedal to the Metal. “The whole band is still obsessed with the ’80s, and that’s bled into our lifestyles. It’s not just when we’re on tour: We all kind of dress ’80s; we still have mullets. It’s become part of our lives,” explains singer Tony Gambino.“On the last album, we used more of the cheesy side of the ’80s, and this album we used a little more of the mature side. It’s a little less fluff, a lot less cheese, a little more serious. We’ve kind of gone a little more classic metal and heavy rock ‘n’ roll. It’s real organic how it all came together,” he adds. “We’re not in this to follow the trends—we’re in it to do what we love.” Formed in 2003 in Montreal, Canada, BBABH released its first album - All is Fair in Love And War - a year after its inception. 2008 saw the release of Pedal To The Metal on Century Media Records, which was followed by years of incessant touring throughout the US, UK, Europe, Japan and Australia alongside the likes of JUDAS PRIEST, A DAY TO REMEMBER, BRING ME THE HORIZON, MEGADETH, STEEL PANTHER and more. Like any artist with a notable body of work, BLESSED has experienced a near constant evolution over the past eight years, in some part due to lineup changes, but mostly due to a stylistic progression away from pure metalcore in favor of more traditional metal and hard rock. One listen to Feel The Power will confirm that not only is this not the same band that recorded All Is Fair, but that that very fact is their saving grace. Staying ahead of the curve and distancing themselves from the pack is the key to BLESSED BY A BROKEN HEART’s longevity, and the reason the new album will resonate with even the most veteran headbangers. Breton will release ‘The Blanket Rule EP’, to celebrate the announcement of a fresh set of dates, including shows in Paris, Dublin and the Mercury Lounge in New York, which will be the band’s first ever headline show. It consists of four new tracks that will not be included on their forthcoming debut album ‘Other People’s Problems’ due for release onFatCat Records on 26th March 2012. There will also be a bonus track, ‘The Well’ that first featured on the band’s ‘Sharing Notes’ EP. Tracklisting is as follows: ‘Certain Little Facts’ ‘How Can They Tell’ ‘Ordinance Surve ‘Sandpaper’ ‘The Blanket Rule EP’ will be available to download for free via Breton’s Facebook page – www.facebook.com/bretonlabs or as a stream at http://soundcloud.com/bretonlabs/sets/blanket-rule-ep Full list of shows are as follows: www.facebook.com/bretonlabs |
