Sarabeth Tucek Live The album is one of the most economic but intense and emotional I have heard which left me wondering whether, like me, Tucek has regrets about not having been closer to her father before his death. For comparison’s sake her performance and writing makes Adele seem rather superficial. Accompanied only by an acoustic guitarist (who also provided spotless backing vocals), Tucek’s performance centred on GET WELL SOON and one was left in doubt as to her quality and emotions. Sat on a chair and playing an electric guitar Tucek only smiled during brief breaks between songs and in response to the genuine applause from an audience who were opbviously moved by her performance. This was a solemn, contemplative and judiciously understated performance that opened with the brief album introduction dominated by guitar and the purest of voices, ‘The Wound And The Bow’, before diving into ‘Wooden’ with its vibrant strummed acoustic guitar opening, beautiful vocal and incredible crashing electric guitar middle-eight passage.
So, here’s a guarantee for you all: buy the album GET WELL SOON, listen to it a couple of times and it will become one of your all-time favourites. And if you get the chance to see her perform live, JUST GO… SETLIST THE WOUND AND THE BOW http://sarabethtucek.wordpress.com/ http://www.shakenstir.co.uk/index.php/reviews/sarabeth-tucek-get-well-soon/reviews/23401/ http://www.shakenstir.co.uk/index.php/gallery/?album=3203&gallery=1742 Page: 1 2 |
