Matt proved to be a powerful vocalist with expression a major weapon in his artistic aresenal. I couldn’t fault any of the instrumental performances including Kelly’s occasional foray into trashcan-lid thumping. So a skilled band and those songs, ah what songs…

‘Trashcan’ is a keyboard-thumping, hook-endowed rocker which got the party going. And it just got better and better. ‘People C’mon’ climbed and climbed with some lovely guitar riffs from Sean. The band grasped the opportunity to play two new songs (out of several ready for the next album) which did not disappoint and point to wonderful things ahead for these guys. ‘People Turn Around’ signalled time for Matt to don his harmonica and perform a protest song out of the top drawer. By this time the seated audience had been pulled from their comfortable seats and creep towards the stage action. They loved it with each song drawing strong and genuine applause.

Now I’m not going to name each song because it’s not necessary, but most of the songs from the new album were played. Every song was performed incredibly with the show’s finale a moment I will never forget when all band members came to the front of the stage and gave one of the finest live performances I can remember. When the show finished Matt climbed down from the stage and wandered into the club at which point several punters thanked him and shook his hand. Doesn’t happen often does it…

It rarely happens with me but I really wanted the show to start over again. My message to all of you is to acquire the album (ODE TO SUNSHINE) and submerge yourself in it - believe me when I say the more it’s played the more you will love it. Fortunately I had the album with me on the night and so I did indeed experience the performance again as I drove the 50-odd miles back to Wrexham. The guys continue their tour to all points Europe and that night were heading off to Dublin.

Make a note of the band and the album - you heard it here first…
