Britain’s sweetest music festival, Summer Sundae Weekender is fast approaching. Here at Summer Sundae Weekender we pride ourselves setting our festival apart from the rest. Located in the beautiful grounds of Leicester’s De Montfort Hall, the festival offers weekend camping with all you would expect from a green field event, in an urban setting with four covered stages and a host of nearby amenities.

This year we are excited to announce the return of Phrased & Confused to Summer Sundae Weekender 2011. For those of you new to Phrased & Confused, expect top notch, copper bottomed, guaranteed to stop you in your tracks, words and music of the purest quality. This year Phrased & Confused will take custody of The Cabaret Tent as well as The Bandstand Stage for a few hours each day, plus look out too for their new Library Tent in The Garden Area. Here you’ll be able to pick up a book or two, brush up on your songwriting skills, rendezvous for a literary blind date or even add a line to our festival poem. Already confirmed on the poetry bill are BBC Radio 4 Slam Champion of 2009 Ben Mellor,  Laura Dockrill named as one of The Times’ top ten literary stars in 2008, Shane Solanki, plus actor and force to reckoned with; Yusra Warsama.

We are also thrilled to unveil further details of our Bandstand Stage which, in keeping with this year’s Victoriana theme will include performances by The Dead Victorians; a unique music hall comedy show in the finest British tradition. Next up we have local troupe The Galli Galli Theatre Company bringing their magical Victorian Melodrama to the festival.
Over in the Garden and Kidzone we will see the return of a firm festival favourite, The Sonic Manipulator. Prepare yourselves for a mind-boggling experience from this one man alien band. With the power to move and groove…you will obey!
We will also have other weird and wonderful sideshows including The Psychic Projection where you can catch fine bearded ladies convening with animal spirits and wonderously rapping, ringing, rope-tying to provide audiences with a spiritual experience not to be missed! Plus London Hula Hoopers will be running daily workshops introducing beginners and helping those who already have skills to pick up impressive new tricks.

Finally, Summer Sundae Weekender are delighted to be participating in Amnesty International’s 50th Anniversary special photo project, by asking our performers to have their photos taken with Amnesty placards at the festival. These photos will be available for viewing on the Summer Sundae website to raise awareness so that our visitors may too take action on human rights campaigns.
