ALWENA WEAVER

During today’s show I dedicated an Andrea Bocelli song to a lovely lady who lives in in the same small block of flats as I do. I didn’t know Alwena very well but each time we met it was as if I’d known her for a lifetime. Alwena was that kind of lady. She always had a smile to give, a story to tell, and at eighty-two years of age those sparkling blue eyes conveyed a love of life, great intelligence and sincerity. She hated being photographed but I would snap away regardless (much to her annoyance) to capture that very special personality. I’m glad I did. Today I dedicated a song to Alwena on the show because she was ill in hospital. A short time after returned home from doing the show I learned that this beautiful person had passed away earlier in the day. I know her family and friends will miss her tremendously, as I will.
