Gallops: Out Of Wales!

gallops-live1

Gallops still fresh from headlining the ‘Introducing’ stage at Reading & Leeds Festival are that rare beast that straddle rock music and dance music with the utmost taste without being a bag of shit for old people.

They seamlessly blend organic and synthetic in an intelligent manner, without being obtuse or chinstrokingly dull. You can dance your fucking tits off (mate), but this is as much for headphone listening in a dark room as it is for festival dance-offs.

If you are still struggling then this is a band whose appeared on Hollyoaks but whose influences include Sun Ra, David Lynch, Fugazi, Steve Reich, Terry Riley, Queens Of The Stone Age, Tortoise, King Tubby, Can, David Axelrod, Vangelis, Aphex Twin – note the ROCK POWER acts amongst those, because Gallops rock like a Friday night in the car with Wayne and Garth.

For a band you haven’t heard of yet, this lot have been poking the earlobes of the right people, under-the-radar tactical sleuthing of the highest order. Mat Horne is  a fan, Yannis from Foals is a fan,  Huw Stephens (Radio 1) has got some national pride chub on for them, and Clash and NME are already on it. Don’t sleep.

All this and the band are from Wrexham, North Wales. YOU try naming the last good musical thing to come from there.

Gallops have also bagged themselves a decent wedge of publicity with their song ‘Miami Spider’ being featured as the backing music to an advert for a new TV show.

TV Channel Fiver are bringing out a brand new late-night comedy-horror called ‘Ugly Americans‘. This animated series follows Mark Lilly, a social worker at the New York Department of Integration, as he helps new citizens – both human and ‘other’ – adapt to life in the Big Apple.

The series, originally from the US, is quite a big hit in the states and features on their popular Comedy Central channel. Ugly Americans is based on an original idea by Devin Clark, which was later developed by former The Simpsons writer David M. Stern
