It’s the return of the Welsh-born Grammy-winning chanteuse, Duffy. The world was first introduced to her via her debut album, Rockferry, which included the hits “Mercy” and “Warwick Avenue.” With “Mercy,” Duffy became the first Welsh female in 25 years to achieve a No.1 single on the UK Singles Charts. In 2009, she won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album and was nominated for two other Grammy awards. In the same year, she won three BRIT Awards: “British Breakthrough,” “Best Female Solo” and “Best British Album.” She is currently preparing her sophomore record, Endlessly, which was recorded in both New York and London and has a scheduled release date for the UK of November 29. The first single, “Well Well Well,” features a rhythm section by Philadelphia hip-hop group The Roots, who are also known as the house band on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.” The up-tempo track is reminiscent to the baseline used in the 1990 dance track “Everybody Dance Now” by the C+C Music Factory, but will have no problems finding its way to the Specialty shows, Alternative radio outlets and many other radio stations worldwide. The recently released video showcases Duffy’s dance abilities and cements her in the music industry as a superstar. British indie-rock act The Vaccines have signed to Columbia Records out of the UK. The band, who are managed by SuperVision’s James Sandom and Cerne Canning, secured their demo song “If You Wanna” as influential BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe’s “Hottest Record in the World,” BBC 6 Music DJ Lauren Laverne’s “Track of the Week” and as the NME Radar “Daily Download.” The Vaccines’ debut single is being mixed by Alan Moulder and is scheduled for release in November. The band’s first London show was on October 7 at the Flowerpot in Kentish Town, London. The band recently played on flagship music tv programme ‘Later’ For more information, log on to www.thevaccines.co.uk Page: 1 2 |
