Lemmy: Motorhead: All Yours
Ok, let’s get one thing straight from the start… I am not a Motorhead fan, Yet I Love Motorhead! I am a fan of Lemmy… And I Just Watched ‘Lemmy - The Movie’ On DVD! I have met Lemmy ‘once’ three times!, and it became evident that he was the type of person you only ever needed to meet ‘once’ and no matter how many times you met him again, Once was enough. For no other reason than it was over 10 years between each of the meetings, yet every time Lemmy was the same. There are others I have met and can say Exactly the same about (James Hetfield, Ozzy, Johnny Cash, Chuck Berry, Keith Richards, Brian Johnson, David Bowie, Prince, Trent Reznor, Dave Grohl, Bono, Even Gene Simmons) I could go on, but the point i’m making is there are certain artists you don’t just ‘meet’ they grace you with their pressence and you should and need to come away from those moments with something extra, often something you won’t even know you have untill years later, BUT the one thing that connects them all, the only real thing that they all create is… Inspiration… Lemmy inspires me, always has, always will, many speak of him as a ‘Maverick’ a ‘Renegade’ yet he is simply being ‘Lemmy’ this IS who he is, this is what he does, and when he opens up every single Motorhead show with ‘We Are Motorhead & We Play Rock N’ Roll’ he does so with the same spit and venom he has always done, because Lemmy is ‘Rock N’ Roll’ He’s not the first, but he certainly is the ‘Last’ and I can honestly say that over the period of this new century I have not seen or met anyone who is going to replace him, there are several who come close, but they are all 40+, There are no ‘New’ rock’n'rollas… Lemmy is the ‘Road Warrior’ And that’s the reason YOU need to see this film, Everyone needs to see this BEFORE he dies, while he is still here, I don’t want Lemmy to get fame and fortune in the way Ozzy has (So many people have said to me ‘I did’nt know he was a singer!) Yet what I hope for is that with their new album ‘The World Is Yours’ on their own record label and this film being shown around the world (and in every home via DVD) that finally Lemmy will take his rightfull place at the Head of the Rock ‘N’ Roll Round Table, Ozzy, Simmons, Hetfield et all will sit around, but their can and only ever will be one King! This film is Inspiration… And by the end of it you will Love Motorhead! (I’m listening to them loud as f**k right now) You need to see this movie! Jj: 2010 Over four decades, Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister has registered an immeasurable impact on music history. Nearly 65, he remains the living embodiment of the rock and roll lifestyle, and this feature-length documentary tells his story, one of a hard-living rock icon who continues to enjoy the life of a man half his age. Shot on a combination of High Definition and Super 16mm film, “Lemmy” includes interviews with friends, family, bandmates past and present and such admirers / peers as Metallica, Slash, Dave Grohl (Nirvana/Foo Fighters), Ozzy Osbourne, Peter Hook (Joy Division/New Order), actor Billy Bob Thornton, wrestling superstar Triple H, Alice Cooper, Mick Jones of The Clash, and many more. Called “pure gold” by WIRED, “Lemmy” made its world premiere in March 2010 at the South by Southwest Film and Music Festival, and has since collected rave reviews at film festivals around the globe. Variety remarked “‘Lemmy’ rocks,” and The Hollywood Reporter noted, “You don’t have to be a metalhead to love ‘Lemmy.’” THE FILMMAKERS Greg Olliver – Co-Director/Producerreg Olliver – Co-Director/Producer: As a director Greg has worked with Joan Jett, Snoop Dogg, Carmen Electra, Dale Earnhardt Jr., the NY Rangers, Mike Vallely and has directed / produced shows for Fuel TV, and has other long-form projects in the works. Wes Orshoski – Co-Director/Producer: “Lemmy” marks Wes Orshoski’s debut as a director. For nearly 20 years, he has worked as a music photographer, writer and editor. Having interviewed artists as diverse as Johnny Cash and Bunny Wailer, Joe Strummer and Nick Cave, his work has been published in a diverse array of publications, from Rolling Stone and Mojo to The Wall Street Journal and The Source. *** ‘Lemmy The Movie’ will be last shown January 14-21 at Cardiff Chapter, Catch it, then buy the DVD… FaceSpace or SpaceFace: Mashed!

Michael Monroe: Back From Hanoi MICHAEL MONROE, iconic rock‘n’roll frontman and founding member of hugely influential Finnish outfit Hanoi Rocks, will release a brand new single/video on February 21st 2011 via Spinefarm Records UK. Titled ‘’78’ (a homage to a year of great music and significant cultural happenings), the single will be available on both digital download & coloured vinyl 7” complete with exclusive extra track. Three weeks later, on March 14th, Monroe will follow the single with a brand new studio album; as yet untitled, the record has been produced in Los Angeles by the legendary Jack Douglas (whose credits include everyone from Aerosmith through to John Lennon) and features such special guests as country star Lucinda Williams and Motörhead frontman Lemmy, who duets with Monroe. The album will be available on a number of different formats, including deluxe digi-pack with bonus DVD and limited edition coloured vinyl. Coming off the Hanoi Rocks rebirth from 2002-2009, MICHAEL MONROE made his long-awaited mark on America starting with SXSW and West Coast U.S. dates in March 2010 with his incredible team of players. In addition to a schedule of exclusive live performances, which also included Finland, Sweden, UK in April and east coast dates in May and an amazing gig at the UK’s Premier rock festival Download! Having recently guested with Motörhead on their 35th Anniversary UK tour, Monroe and his regular touring / recording line-up (Wildhearts mainman Ginger on guitar, ex-Hanoi member Sami Yaffa on bass, Steve Conte of New York Dolls/Company Of Wolves fame on guitar, and Karl ‘Rockfist’ Rosqvist on drums – a Swedish/Finnish drummer who has played with both Chelsea Smiles & Danzig) are now ready to take on a run of dates that will see them headlining venues from Portsmouth up to Glasgow. The full list of shows is as follows:- APRIL 2011 4th – Brighton, Concorde 2 ** Live Review: Special Guest of Motorhead: Manchester 02: 16:11:10 It’s often strange how certain artists need each other, they find a soulmate and verything turns to gold, they part/split and everything turns to shit, like somebody turns the light out, Mick & Keith, Steve & Joe, Gene & Paul, the list goes on, not that any of them are not great on their own, but they are not ’special’ it’s not ‘magic’
Michael Monroe comes into that, with Hanoi Rocks he was unstopable, incredible, on his own, he was just great (still better than most) back together over the last few years with Andy McCoy in Hanoi Rocks and once again they proved why they are held in such high esteem, so when the Hanoi train rolled to a full stop and Mike come round to going solo once again he obviously realised that this time it needed to be not just as amazing as Hanoi, BUT better… So with this in mind he put together a set of musicians who on their own are outstanding, former Hanoi Rocks bassist Sam Yaffa, New York Dolls guitarist Steve Conte and most importantly he brought in another like minded soul, a nemisis in Wildhearts mainman Ginger (Who has suffered himself from losing key members of the ‘Hearts) and from the moment they hit the ground running tonight it’s evident that this ain’t no gravy train, no retro kareoke bar blast, this is high octane glam-slam-punk n’ roll, the opening three songs tear past like a missile on speed, they hit ‘Motorvatin’ and it’s foot to the floor, fly through ‘I wanna be loved’ Johnny must be smiling in heaven, tear a new hole in ‘Malibu Beach Nightmare’ and leave us understandig that for all the members in this band it really is ‘Dead, jail or rock n’ roll’ I have seen Michael in Hanoi, solo 1st time round, again in Hanoi, but not since those heady days of the Marquee in early 80’s have I seen him om this kind of level, you can’t start a fire without a spark, and somewhere, somehow, this fire got ignited, Now is the time for him to get his just rewards… Outstanding… Jj: 2010

Lorenza Ponce: Soul Shifter Lorenza Ponce: New CD ‘Soul Shifter’ Earns Raves. Website: http://www.lorenzaponce.com Early acclaim has greeted singer/violinist Lorenza Ponce’s sultry rock/Americana collection, ‘Soul Shifter.’ In his BLOGCRITICS review, which also ran via NO DEPRESSION, respected writer Jack Goodstein praised, “Ponce’s first foray into rock is riddled with successes and filled with promise for the future.” Saturation tour press ran in support of Ponce’s recent headlining dates – THE ALBANY TIMES UNION raved, “Let’s just make this perfectly clear: Lorenza Ponce is a big deal.” ‘Soul Shifter’ is “glorious.” Remarking on Ponce’s unique background as a self-professed ‘rock-girl side person’ for such superstars as Sheryl Crow and as violinist for Bon Jovi and others, THE TIMES HERALD-RECORD noted, “Not every girl can say that rocker Sheryl Crow bought her first pair of leather pants!” Ponce will open for Bon Jovi at the kick-off of the 2011 U.S. leg of the band’s tour, February 9th at Penn State. She will also open for them March 4th at Mohegan Sun. Featuring her ethereal vocals and blues violin, Ponce’s album charts a path out of the shadows and into the spotlight for a talented artist with a storied career as a performer and as a string arranger — her credits include such notable tracks as Dixie Chicks ‘Landslide’, Sheryl Crow’s ‘Mother Nature’s Son’ and ‘It’s Only Love’, Bon Jovi’s MTV Unplugged ‘Living on a Prayer’ and more. The multi-talented musician Lorenza Ponce has toured the world playing violin alongside such artists as Ben Folds, Jon Bon Jovi, Sheryl Crow, John Tesh (!) and Thriving Ivory. As Lorenza explains, her rock debut Soul Shifter represents “a style change from the classical training and new age music of my past, while incorporating the ‘graduate degree’ I have earned at the school of rock star employers and mentors.” Growing up on a farm in Maryland, Lorenza had a prescient idea of her career path. “Even though I chose the violin, I always knew I would be a non-classical musician, and as soon as I found out that there was a NYC, I knew that was where I would live. So as soon as I was legal, that’s where I headed.” Keyboardist Joe McGinty recommended Lorenza for her first session and a chance meeting with Jon Anderson of Yes led to a collaboration on his album Deseo (Windham Hill, 1994). Anderson encouraged Lorenza to start writing her own music as well, and her solo debut as a classical crossover artist, Imago, was released in 1997 by EMI/Angel Records. Ever eager to take to the road as well as developing her solo work, Lorenza toured with new agers Kitaro and John Tesh and appears in the An Enchanted Evening and One World videos documenting those shows. Ponce’s strength as a performer / instrumentalist was recognized by The St. Petersburg Times: “Ponce is a violin virtuoso, plucking her strings while singing on the ethereal ‘Canta Domine.’” As a first call session player, Lorenza was part of the string quintet that accompanied Sheryl Crow on the theme for the James Bond film “Tomorrow Never Dies” (1997). Lorenza next worked with her on The Globe Sessions, where she broke a cardinal rule of her session work and gave the artist a copy of her record. “I was hanging on a break, talking about the Bond session with Sheryl, and a little voice said, ‘ask her if you can give her a record.’ That moment changed my life.” Sheryl invited Lorenza to play on her VH1 Storytellers special, which led to the violinist accompanying her on the subsequent world tour. Lorenza credits Sheryl Crow for her transformation from New Age sidewoman to rock chick. “Sheryl encouraged me to pick up the guitar again, and in addition to hiring me to write string arrangements for her recordings, bought me my first really good pair of leather pants. And she encouraged me to keep making solo records” Ponce subsequently recorded another solo new age album, Mystic Fiddler (Melodia, 2000) and returned to write orchestral arrangements for Sheryl Crow’s C’mon, C’mon (A&M, 2002). When it was time to hire a conductor, Crow handed Lorenza the baton and insisted she take the podium. This experience was critical in Lorenza being responsible for writing string arrangements (and touring with) The Dixie Chicks, along with her more recent work with rock icons Bon Jovi. “After the tragedy of 9/11, every person wanted to help. I was thrilled when I got a call to play the Tribute to Heroes Telethon with Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora. I had never met them, but it turned out to be the start of a good musical collaboration.” Lorenza also played the historic Concert For New York with Bon Jovi, as well as smaller benefits for the families of the servicemen lost from Jon’s hometown. It’s no wonder Lorenza has such deep regard for the band. “It was an honor to be part of their contribution to healing.” Lorenza became a permanent member of Jon’s solo acoustic group (which mainly plays charity and political events) and was subsequently asked to join the Bon Jovi “Lost Highway” tour, which featured her prominently. “After completing a rock tour as big as Lost Highway, I knew I was ready to make my own rock record. My writing had been shifting towards rock for several years. My new record represents that.”
Perhaps like many of you, I was unfamiliar with the music of Lorenza Ponce until her latest CD, Soul Shifter. After listening a few times, it was clear that this was not just another pop rocker, this was a singer/songwriter with talent; this was an instrumentalist worth some attention. This was someone worth learning more about. A few clicks on Google, and it quickly becomes obvious that Lorenza Ponce is no novice. An accomplished violinist, she has played with some of the biggest names on the music scene. What is new in this her latest album, is her emergence as a roots rock soloist. Soul Shifter, she has said, is “a style change from the classical training and new age music of my past, while incorporating the ‘graduate degree’ I have earned at the school of rock star employers and mentors.” Indeed, she credits Sheryl Crow with her makeover: “Sheryl was Patsy Cline to my Loretta Lynn. She encouraged me to pick up the guitar again. . . and bought me my first really good pair of leather pants.” Of the album’s ten tracks eight are by Ponce, four in collaboration with others and four on her own. The rocking “Baby Please Don’t Go” is by Joseph Lee Williams. It shows the singer off at her sultry best. George Harrison’s “Let It Down” begins with a soft cabaret vibe and rocks out on the chorus. Her own “Frostbite” has a nice folksy feel that builds on an extensive conceit comparing the effects of unrequited love to frostbite. “Testify” is a demand that we stand up and acknowledge that we are living for love. It features some nice guitar and banjo accompaniment. “I Won’t Lose Faith” has an otherworldly quality that has some echoes of her new age past, but adds a touch of blues with the first chorus. The problem of maintaining faith in a world where bad things happen to good people is central to the song’s affirmation: “No I won’t, I won’t lose faith in you/No matter what you do.” The album opens with “Casual Girl,” the lament of a love taken for granted, but unable to break away. The chorus exploits some clever internal rhyming that emphasizes the speaker’s awareness of her situation and her inability to do anything about it: “keep me handy like pocket candy” and “dedicated to a love I’ve hated.” She’s “not that lucky.” She’ll “keep on sinking deeper.” “Remedy” is a down home blues sitting on an intense throbbing beat. “What Happened to You,” another blues, is a diatribe against the artist that has lost his way; once upon a time you could make us feel, she cries. “What happened to you?” “Daddy’s Baby” is a patriotic anthem with a country feel. It is an assertion that love of country doesn’t mean love of guns and war: she shouldn’t be “misunderstood / Like it’s some kinda crazy gun totin’ sisterhood.” “Soul Shifter,” the song that gives the album its title is a swinging tribute to old blue eyes, Frank Sinatra. “A soul shifter,” Ponce has said, “is someone who will turn your blue mood into joy and laughter, without you even thinking about it.” It is a soft rock tune with some of the most elaborate orchestration on the album, but it doesn’t quite have the raw energy of some of the other songs on the album. Unfortunately for me, whenever she got to the chorus: “He’s a soul shifter/He’s the mood lifter,” all I could keep hearing was Pat Benatar, but that’s my problem. Lorenza Ponce’s first foray into rock is riddled with successes and filled with promise for the future. Her selection of material is varied. She has a seductive voice that is equally at home with the blues and the softer rock ballad. Her own songs are intelligent and thought provoking. She manages to put her own stamp on the songs of others. All in all, you may not be enthralled by every track on the album, but it will be the rare listener who will not find much to like on Soul Shifter. Von Hertzen Brothers: Stars VON HERTZEN BROTHERS GIVE A MODERN, EMOTIVE SPIN TO PROGRESSIVE MUSIC WITH NEW ALBUM ‘STARS ALIGNED’, RELEASED MARCH 14th 2011 VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS UK * DEBUT UK HEADLINE SHOW CONFIRMED FOR FEBRUARY 17th 2011 AT THE JAZZ CAFÉ IN LONDON… THEY MAY sound like something from a dark fairytale, but the Von Hertzen Brothers are actually Finland’s No. 1 rock band – three siblings (vocalist/guitarist Mikko, guitarist/vocalist Kie & bassist/vocalist Jonne) with a formidable live reputation plus the collective ability to produce challenging music that never comes across as specialist or niche. And now, with last album (‘Love Remains The Same’) charting at No. 1 in Finland, and staying there for three weeks, the time is right for these gold-sellin’, Grammy-winnin’ ‘mad brothers of rock’ to set their sights farther afield. As a result, a one-off show, billed as ‘An Evening With The Von Hertzen Brothers’, has been confirmed for February 17th 2011 at the Jazz Café in London – the first time the band (completed by keyboard player Juha Kuoppala & drummer Mikko Kaakkuriniemi) have appeared onstage in the UK. JUST PRIOR to the show, on February 14th, ‘Angel’s Eyes’ will be released as a new single/video, with the accompanying album, ‘Stars Aligned’, set to follow on March 14th. Produced by James Spectrum (Pepe Deluxe, etc.) and due to feature nine brand new compositions, the album sees the Brothers further developing a musical style that has memorably been described as ‘Foo Fighters playing Pink Floyd’s greatest hits after spending years in India singing to Beach Boys tunes’! Other commentators have highlighted the Brothers love of classic artists such as Queen, Black Sabbath & Jimi Hendrix, plus of course the more colourful end of ’70s rock in general; but however the troupe are defined, there can be no questioning the sheer invention of their playing, the gloriously uplifting nature of their melodies or the ‘less-travelled’ nature of their lyrics – lyrics inspired by William Blake, Finnish poets & Indian authors rather than more traditional rock‘n’roll fare… “The point of music, any kind of music, is to create wonderful experiences that are somehow elevating & encouraging,” say the Brothers. “That’s our mission, and the music is our instrument.” With 2011 predicted as a big year for intelligent, complex music and quality playing, the Von Hertzen Brothers’ high-flyin’ combination of psychedelia & pop should see them building quickly on their substantial homegrown success, sprinkling some serious fairy dust of their own! www.vonhertzenbrothers.com | www.myspace.com/vonhertzenbrothers www.spinefarmrecords.co.uk | www.facebook.com/spinefarmrecordsuk
Middle Class Rut: No Name… MIDDLE CLASS RUT RELEASED DEBUT ALBUM ‘NO NAME NO COLOR’ - November, 2010 ** Here is another album/band overlooked during 2010 and here at Shake we simply can’t have that, so do yourself a favour and go get some free music from the bands website, buy the album and check them out live, you won’t regret it… Jj: 2010 When you listen to the music of MIDDLE CLASS RUT, you’d think there was a large band making all that beautiful noise. On the contrary, SEAN STOCKHAM (vocals, drums) and ZACK LOPEZ (vocals, guitars) are solely responsible for creating a new sound that’s anything but middle of the road on their debut album, NO NAME NO COLOR, on Bright Antenna Records through Warner Music Group’s ADA Global. MIDDLE CLASS RUT’s music artfully blurs the line between heavy and melodic, showcasing the band’s skill for raw, energized rock and roll that is equally complex and immediate. The record is enormous and rowdy, propelled by the duo’s ability to make heavy music tasteful and accessible. Opening number “Busy Bein’ Born” represents the rest of the disc, setting a tone and pace for the impassioned tracks that follow. “It takes everything this band does and puts it into one song,” Lopez says. “It’s hard to do that. We’re able to capture the heavier and mellower side of our music in one song.” NO NAME NO COLOR compiles 12 songs from a span of several years, showcasing a breadth of time without ever losing its clear impression of cohesion. A few tracks have appeared previously on the band’s three EPs, which they released in 2007, 2008 and 2009, but the album as a whole is a new construction that reveals a band with a unique creative process. The majority of the songs have been tested on the road during tours in the U.S. with Social Distortion, Them Crooked Vultures and Alice In Chains, The Bronx and …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead.
They’ve spent the past four years crafting new songs and allowing the style and sound of their project to evolve and establish itself. The pair records every song they write together almost immediately in their rehearsal space, capturing the instantaneous spirit of a track while still in the moment. This means that each number is imbued with a distinct sense of urgency, almost like a snapshot of the moment of inspiration. The band’s debut, NO NAME NO COLOR, is a collection of these recordings, which they elected to use rather than attempt to recreate the spark of the original tracks later in a studio. “Recording our own music has been a part of our process since we were 13,” Sean explains. “It integrated itself into our process from an early age. We like being able to listen to whatever we’re writing right away. It’s like when you look in the mirror, you’re seeing your face, but it’s different than when you see a picture of yourself. It’s the same with music. You need to hear it come out of a stereo to understand it. That’s just what we do. We write music and we record it so we can listen to it. Now hopefully other people will get to listen to it as well.” Releasing this disc marks a moment of catharsis for these two musicians. The road they’ve traveled to get here has been long and uphill. But never has MIDDLE CLASS RUT lost sight of why they make music—a fact that is reflected in the genuine, honest nature of their songs. There is something grounded and relatable about these tracks and that comes from the band being homegrown and independent, and truly loving being musicians. “I feel like the music we make needs to be heard,” Zack says. “Maybe everyone feels that way about their music, I don’t know. We struggled for a long time to find something that was us and as soon as we decided that we would do it ourselves everything clicked. Realizing we didn’t need anyone but ourselves to do this was important for this band. Now we want to get this out there and really get our own audience for our music.” “…sound like Jane’s Addiction having a panic attack.” –NME “That sound is nothing short of colossal, and one that a mere two-piece really shouldn’t be able to create.” –Kerrang! www.mcrut.com | www.myspace.com/middleclassrut | www.youtube.com/middleclassrut
Clockwork Radio: Soul Harmonic This week I have once again been reminded of the ‘Dire’ state of UK media with R1/R2/6 being shite and the music magazines publishing their ‘year best’ with me again seeing the image of ‘Q’ magazine with Cheryl F****n’ cole on the cover and it’s editor’s statement of ‘There’s a lack of great music to feature in Q!’ Un-Be-F****n-Le-Vable! Then today I get an e-mail with details and a link to a band and it simply blows me away, So much in fact that I want to play the whole of their EP on my Radio Slot and feature them here on ’shake’ Four songs of high calibre and a vibe that is akin to the first time I got an EP from a band called Coldplay… Given mor of the right exposure this band could be just as big, sell out major venues and be onthe front cover of major magazines within’ a year… They may not get that, but that won’t stop me from trying… Jj 2010 Based in Manchester with members originating from North Wales and Egypt, Clockwork Radio have already released two EP’s recorded and produced by the band in 2010, both made available on free download. They have achieved national airplay on Radio One, 6music, Radio Wales and have also featured in Radio One’s “best of unsigned podcast” Over the last 18 months the band have appeared on the same bill as acts including the likes of The Prodigy, The Hives, Supergrass, The Holloways, Skunk Anansie, Bombay Bicycle Club, Blood Red Shoes and Pete and The Pirates, and will continue touring the UK and Europe from summer 2010. Skyrocket Love! Novacaine Jeremy Bassett - Singer / Merritt Graves - Keyboards / Andrew Clay - Keyboards /Curtis Corwin - Bass, Vocals / Jeff Maddox - Drums / Lucas Guterres - Guitar, Vocals As we enter the last days of 2010 it’s time once more to grab the ‘Hitlist’ and look ahead to some of the bands that will be rocking our world in 2011, and Skyrocket Love are on that list for sure… Having grabbed three songs from the band to play out on our ‘Sessions’ radio show I have to admit that these boys are the real deal, They have craft beyond their years and ears that know where the melody lies, take a look at the video for ‘Novacaine’ and if you ain’t hooked by the end, and it does not make you click the ‘play again’ button or jump to the band’s website or Face-Space! then you simply should not be here in the first place! I hope during some point in 2011 the band can make it over to the UK and we can get the chance to see them live, but for now, let the music do the talking… Jj: 2010 Skyrocket Love: Six By Four… Hi, my name is Jeremy Bassett and this is my biography. I’m originally from Florida but I’ve lived all over the world. Of course I love music and movies, anything in entertainment i enjoy. I have a really artistic family. I’ve been singing since I was a tiny kid, even though i wasn’t really tiny in size. I had a pretty tough life, part of it was brought on me and part of it I brought on myself. But I don’t feel sorry for myself because I’ve been blessed in countless ways. If you really want to know more about me, listen to my voice when I sing. Hopefully for the next years to come there will be many opportunities when i can express myself emotionally through music, which is basically why I do this. Skyrocket Love to me is a great band and I hope you will feel the same as we progress and mature and give ourselves to you. It’s too hard to sum up your life in a paragraph as I’m sure most of you agree. So, let’s just meet each other. Hi I’m Merritt. I grew up in Iowa City, Iowa and lived there most of my life. I got into music pretty early on; first choir and then the piano a few years later when I was 12. I started seriously writing when I was 18 and having a rough time when I was a freshman in college, but I’ve been hearing melodies in my head ever since I can remember. Music is the outlet for all the good things and the bad things in my life. Hi, My name is Jeff Maddox….Drummer for Skyrocket Love. I was born in Virginia and spent 5 years in Atlanta, Georgia. My family and I moved to California when I was a little kid. Music has always been a big part of my life. From the first time I heard the rhythmic brilliance that is Led Zeppelin, I knew I had to play the drums. I started taking lessons at a local music store when I was 14 and joined my first band shortly thereafter. I have been influenced by many genres of music. Everything from Rock, Pop, Metal, R&B……. You name it, I played it. My name is Curtis and i play bass in skyrocket love. I was born and raised in Southern California and currently live in Agoura Hills. Ever since I was little, I have been drawn towards all types of music. When I was 13, I learned to play guitar and started writing songs. Throughout middle and high school, I was in a few bands and started playing shows locally. During that time, i also worked with Grammy Award winning producer, KC Porter at his studio. I spent two years there and gained a lot of valuable experience with recording, engineering, producing and music business. Not too long after high school, I started playing bass and found my way into an audition for Skyrocket Love. *** Unavailable: New members (Andrew Clay-Keyboards and Lucas Guterres-Guitar, Vocals) www.skyrocketlove.com
