Deadman OUR ETERNAL GHOSTS. One Little Indian Rarely do I receive an album to review that slips my attention, but this one did. Since ‘re-discovering’ it, I’ve played it many times and with each spin it gets better. Deadman is a US alternative country duo comprising Steven and Sherilyn Collins. The songs are spell-binding and the performances some of the most harmonious I’ve heard. I’m reminded very much of bands like Low and another great US duo, Professor and Maryann. Read more
Baxter Dury FLOOR SHOW. Rough Trade An illustrious musical bloodline in the past has proven to throw up some very interesting sibling talent. A recent and prime example is Martha Wainwright with her fabulous debut EP and album. Dury’s dad had a style of his own and could combine distinctive songs with a melody that lodged in one’s brain like an oil tanker’s anchor.
